Pep Guardiola hails ‘huge victory’ as Manchester City edge Leeds United

Pep Guardiola hailed his Manchester City side’s narrow 1-0 win over Leeds United on Saturday as a ‘huge victory,’ as their title credentials remain well and truly alive.
Antoine Semenyo fired in the lone goal for the Sky Blues in the English Premier League fixture just before half-time to help them seal all three points at Elland Road — a result that leaves them within two points of league-leaders Arsenal (at the time of publishing).
“It’s a huge victory for us. They started well, but we expect it here. Leeds are so intense. After that we did what we are good at for the last decade, a thousand million passes, and make the vibe of the crowd a little bit calmer,” said Guardiola after the match.

City’s fourth successive league win was achieved in the absence of Haaland after the prolific striker was ruled out with an injury suffered in training on Thursday.
“A little injury. It’s not a big issue but not ready for today,”  Guardiola had said just before kick-off. City hope that he will recover in time for Wednesday’s clash with Nottingham Forest.
Meanwhile, Leeds boss Daniel Farke was left ruining his team’s inability to convert their chances. “Disappointed we didn’t score. [But I’m] proud of the boys. Unbelievable shift once again, unbelievable performance, created our chances, our moments,” said Farke.Agencies
