Barcelona manager Hansi Flick wants to see the best version of his players when the take on old rivals Real Madrid in the final of the Spanish Super Cup here on Sunday.
The Catalan giants laid down a marker in their semi-final encounter by thrashing Athletic Bilbao 5-0, while maintaining an astounding 80 per cent possession. Flick hopes his team can put up a similarly dominating display in the first ‘El Clasico’ of the year.
“It’s the Clásico and I want to see the same thing as against Athletic Club. That we play as a team. That’s what I want to see. I want them to show me their best [version] on the pitch. For me, that’s the most important thing,” said Flick.
Real Madrid reached the final after a 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid, despite missing star Kylian Mbappe due to injury. The French skipper landed in Saudi Arabia ahead of the final, but coach Xabi Alonso said that they will not risk him for this match, if he is not fully fit.
