Interim boss Darren Fletcher admitted Manchester United’s “fragile” players have lost their confidence after Sunday’s FA Cup exit following a 1-2 loss to Brighton.
“You could see the players are fragile but they’ve got to respond. Confidence is one of the most powerful things in football so when you don’t have it, you have to dig deep and then the confidence comes back,” said Fletcher, with the Red Devils now out of both cup competitions and sitting in seventh place in the English Premier League.
Meanwhile, reports on Monday indicated that former Red Devils star Michael Carrick could take over from Fletcher on an interim basis until the end of the season.
