'Harry my friend, you deserve every bit of this award…': Virat Kohli

England’s skipper Harry Kane won the Ballon d’Or on Monday, following his prolific scoring in the last season. With this, he became the first Englishman in 25 years to win the elusive showpiece.
In the previous season, Kane found the net a total of 73 times for club and country. He was Europe’s top scorer and also smashed scoring records in Germany and at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
Following his achievement, the Indian cricket team’s superstar batsman Virat Kohli shared a congratulatory post on his official social media handle.
“Harry my friend, you deserve every bit of this award for your resilience, hard work and honesty with which you’ve carried yourself through all these years playing football at the top. Really happy for you. God bless you and your family. They must all be very proud of you as you would be of your own journey. My best wishes always. Congratulations @HKane,” read his post.

The Bayern Munich’s star says the achievement was built on so much more. “Anything is possible with hard work, when no one else is watching, to go through the ups and downs, to learn through resilience, determination and self-belief,” an emotional Kane said in a message to young boys and girls, after reflecting on his early career struggles.
“My journey wasn’t straightforward. I wasn’t the kid who went straight to the top. I had to experience the downs. I had to fight my way to be the very best right now. I hope that can give you inspiration as well,” he added.
On the other hand, Kohli will soon make his appearance in the Indian colours for the five-match ODI series against New Zealand. The series will kick off from November 4, with the first match scheduled to be played at the Eden Park in Auckland.
Currently, Team India under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer is busy in the five-match T20I series against the “Black Caps”. The “Men in Blue” are leading the series by 2-0 and will look to seal the series by securing a win in the third match.
