Iran agree to play world cup, but ask hosts to show respect

Iran’s football federation said on Saturday that the men’s team will take part in the 2026 World Cup this summer, but demanded that hosts US, Mexico and Canada respect its “beliefs, culture and convictions.”
“We will definitely participate in the World Cup, but the hosts must take our concerns into account, We will participate, but without any retreat from our beliefs, culture, and convictions.” 
Iran’s football federation president Mehdi Taj said on Friday that they have 10 conditions for attending the tournament, which include visas being granted, respect for the team’s staff, flag and national anthem, as well as high-security measures for the team be it at hotels or match-day venues.
