Ousmane Dembele wins Ligue 1`s best player for 2nd straight year

Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele was voted Ligue 1`s player of the season for the second straight year. Dembele won the award on Monday night as a PSG player claimed it for the 10th straight time. French superstar Kylian Mbappe won the award five times in a row before joining Real Madrid.
Alexandre Lacazette was the last non-PSG player to win it when playing for Lyon in 2015. During the 2915 season, Lacazette starred in front of goal, scoring over 20 goals.
Despite a recurring injury problem this season, Dembele has contributed with 10 goals in only nine league starts. Dembele starred in PSG`s league title win last season with 21 goals and went on to win the Ballon d`Or, but has had less of an impact this campaign because of injuries.
In the Champions League, where PSG is vying for a second consecutive title after defeating Bayern Munich in the semifinals, Dembele`s performances may have had a greater impact. Dembele`s early goal in the second leg gave PSG a 1-1 draw and a 6-5 aggregate.
For the second consecutive season, PSG colleague Desire Doue was chosen as the best young player in the league. With his game-winning goal against Brest on Sunday, the 20-year-old attacker put PSG on the verge of a record-extending 14th league triumph.
With two games remaining, PSG leads second-place Lens by six points and has a far better goal difference. To win the championship, PSG just needs to draw their rescheduled game at Lens on Wednesday.
In his first season in charge, Pierre Sage turned Lens into an unexpected title challenger with significantly fewer resources than wealthy PSG, earning him the best coach award. For Lens, Robin Risser was named the top goalie.
PSG will face Arsenal in the UCL final
PSG plays Premier League leader Arsenal in the final on May 30. The French outfit will aim to become just the second team in the modern era to defend their UCL title successfully.
The defending champions defeated Bayern Munich in a thriller, while Arsenal edged past Atletico Madrid to reach the final.
