Manchester United’s winless streak stretched to six games across all competitions following a 1-1 draw against bitter rivals Leeds in the English Premier League on Sunday, increasing the pressure on their already beleaguered manager Michael Carrick.
Both teams were fully committed in a feisty start to the match but there was little goalmouth action, until Bryan Mbeumo (35th min) broke the deadlock for the Red Devils, guiding Youri Tielemans’s low ball from the right into the bottom corner.
However, Leeds bounced back soon after half-time, thanks to striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin (51st min), who controlled the ball with his chest and finished at full stretch after teammate Tarik Muharemovic got his head to the ball following a corner.
Meanwhile, earlier in the day, Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez said he will “be back in a few weeks,” after he underwent surgery, following his nasty head collision with Jarrad Branthwaite in their 2-0 win over Everton on Saturday.
