Champions! PSG win Ligue 1 for fifth successive season

In the top-of-the-table clash, Paris Saint-Germain defeated Lens 2-0 to win Ligue 1 for the fifth time in a row.
Ibrahim Mbaye`s goal in stoppage time in the second half ensured that PSG retained the title after Georgia winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia opened the score in the 29th minute.
Luis Enrique eyes historic treble with PSG
PSG manager Luis Enrique now has the opportunity to guide the club to a historic treble this season.
The French champions had already secured the Super Cup earlier in the campaign and will now look to defend their UEFA Champions League title against Arsenal in Budapest on May 30.
Arsenal are also chasing a domestic and European double this season.
PSG president praises team effort
Following the win, the club`s president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, said the success of the team is a reflection of their hard work. He further added that it has been a real `team effort` from the club this season.
“This success is the result of a top-notch team effort from everyone at Paris Saint-Germain and of the strength of our academy, particularly with five young players making their professional debuts. At Paris Saint-Germain, the real star is the team, supported by our amazing fans everywhere we go. Our focus is now fully on our upcoming assignment in Budapest, with even more work to be done as we continue to make history together,” he said.
Dembele wins Ligue 1`s best player award
Paris Saint-Germain forward Ousmane Dembele was voted Ligue 1`s player of the season for the second straight year. Dembele won the award on Monday night as a PSG player claimed it for the 10th straight time. French superstar Kylian Mbappe won the award five times in a row before joining Real Madrid.
Despite a recurring injury problem this season, Dembele has contributed with 10 goals in only nine league starts. Dembele starred in PSG`s league title win last season with 21 goals and went on to win the Ballon d`Or, but has had less of an impact this campaign because of injuries.
For the second consecutive season, PSG colleague Desire Doue was chosen as the best young player in the league. PSG will now turn their attention towards the Champions League final, where they will face Arsenal.
