Brian Brobbey’s hat-trick for Sunderland could not prevent Manchester City opening up a three-point lead at the top of the English Premier League table after a thrilling 5-3 win.
Enzo Fernandez (9th min) opened the scoring, with a free-kick. But Brobbey (12th min) pulled one back for the visitor’s as he slotted home from Enzo Le Fee’s pass.
Quick feet and a slick finish from Rayan Cherki (29th min) restored City’s advantage, but Brobbey again equalised within four minutes. Antoine Semenyo (43rd min) smashed City back in front and added another with an accurate left-footed finish in the 57th minute. But two minutes later, Brobbey completed his hat-trick after Nilson Angulo beat Gianluigi Donnarumma to a ball over the top.
Erling Haaland (81st min) finally got involved in the goal fest to seal the win.
