The Abu Dhabi-based music institute offers diploma courses and exams accredited by Trinity College, London

Abu Dhabi, UAE, 16th December 2022, ZEXPRWIRE, Launched in 2002 at the Al Raha and Al Wahda Malls, The Young Musician Music Institute (TYMMI) has been teaching music to a diverse group of students on a performance-based model of learning.

Frontiers in Neuroscience notes that learning music can bring lifetime benefits to the brain, building new neural pathways between the motor and sensory mechanisms. Additionally, Scientific American found that receiving a musical education during childhood can improve linguistic skills, as both music and language require active listening. Both these examples suggest that learning music is much like mental exercise, keeping the brain active, engaged, and healthy. For this reason, the Young Musician Music Institute was launched and has since been teaching music to people of all ages in the U.A.E.

The Institute offers its students the opportunity to learn a variety of musical instruments – drums, guitar, piano, and various others–as well as singing. Music lessons at the Institute are divided into four major streams, namely Beginners’ and Enthusiasts’ Courses, Trinity Grades and Diploma Courses, Rock and Pop Graded Courses, and finally, Performance Master Classes. Students also have the opportunity to specialize in a genre of their choosing, as the Institute offers training across classical, jazz, blues, reggae, metal, and some others. Moreover, students can also take a course on musical theory to strengthen key concepts in music, such as reading notes and analyzing rhythms.

Upon being asked about the importance of musical training, a representative of the Institute stated, “Today, we know that learning music stretches the brain in ways a standard STEM education may not be able to. So that’s why schools all across the world should be updating their curriculums and prioritizing music lessons for their students’ cognitive development. There’s even research that suggests learning music can delay the onset of Alzheimer’s. Can you imagine the possibilities for the new generations of teaching and learning music becomes as common as learning mathematics or reading literature?”

The music institute allows students to appear in performance-based exams and receive diplomas accredited by Trinity College. It also offers gift vouchers for anyone who wishes to purchase musical instruments and lesson packages.
